NSW: Endangered birds killed by hail storm
SYDNEY, Feb 4 AAP - Endangered birds were killed in a violent hail storm in what wildlife
experts today compared to a scene from a war zone.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) shorebird recovery officer Mike Jarman said
at least 12 endangered little terns were among up to 50 birds found dead at a breeding
colony on the NSW south coast after a storm swept across the region on Monday.
Cormorants, seagulls, red-necked stints and bar-tailed godwits were also among the
dead and injured birds, which are all a part of the NPWS South Coast Shorebird …
